What the manufacturer lists

Potatoes; vegetable oils (sunflower and rapeseed, in varying proportions); salt; antioxidants: rosemary extract, ascorbic acid, tocopherol-rich extract and citric acid.

The manufacturer says the product is made in a factory that also handles milk, wheat, gluten, barley, soya, celery and mustard. That is precautionary factory information, not a statement that those ingredients are deliberately present.

Read beyond the headline

Three distinctions that prevent a misleading answer

01

Why four antioxidants appear after salt

The oils need protection from oxidation during shelf life. The ingredient list names rosemary extract, ascorbic acid, a tocopherol-rich extract and citric acid under the shared antioxidant function. Their presence does not turn the crisps into a vitamin supplement; the function describes what they do in this recipe.

02

A short list can still require decoding

Potato, oil and salt make up the recognisable base. The extra names describe how the oil is protected, while the “varying proportions” wording allows the sunflower-to-rapeseed balance to change. It does not disclose the precise amount of each oil in a particular bag.

What this page covers

This guide is for the standard UK Ready Salted product shown on the manufacturer page checked on 17 September 2026. Other Walkers ranges and flavours have different recipes, seasonings and allergens, so their names should not be treated as interchangeable.

A reliable way to check

What this page can and cannot answer

Is this the recipe for every Walkers Ready Salted Crisps product?

No. It covers Ready Salted only. Closely named variants can have different ingredients and allergens.

Why do some additive pages show an E-number that is not printed here?

UK labels can identify an additive by its specific name rather than its E-number. NutraSafe links the declared name to the corresponding reference entry where the match is clear.

What should I trust if my pack differs?

Trust the current physical pack for the food you are about to consume, particularly for allergens. The web source and this guide are dated snapshots.
